... as for me and my house, we will serve the
LORD. Jsh 24:15
Our Home Birth Story
Isaac David Puetz was born at home on March 23, 2002. This is truly an answer to prayer
and a testimony of what God can. After much prayer and research to the safety of
homebirth, even after cesarean, we decided that a homebirth is what God had in store for us.
John 14:13 says, "And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do that the Father
may be glorified in the Son." This is not just that we say, "In Jesus name" when we pray, but
that we come to God with Jesus as our Saviour. John 14:6 says, "I am the way,
the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me." This means that in order
to come before the Father, we must come through Jesus. To come through Jesus, we must have
accepted Christ as the sacrifice for our sin and be saved. It is only through Christ that
God will hear us.
Our prayer was that this baby would be born at home without problem and that through this,
our Father God would be glorified. Baby Isaac is now here and we want to glorify God in
what He has done.
Why would a homebirth be such an answer to prayer? Homebirths are a lot more common today.
There have been many more babies born outside the hospitals, since the first birth of Cain to
Adam & Eve.
This baby is our 6th after 5 cesarean births. Two of the five births were unsuccessful
labors and three were scheduled cesareans. Our biggest baby was 11 lbs. The smallest was 8.5
lbs. and two were 10 lbs. We also went at least 2 weeks past the due date on the two births
that we had labor with. No doctor would have even
let us try natural labor. We believe that many times their reasons are for self protection and
not because of true health risks. We did not believe that going past the due date, having
big babies, or even the past cesareans were obstacles that God could not overcome.
Psalm 127:3 says, "Lo, children are an heritage of the LORD: and the fruit of the womb
is his reward" and Psalm 127:5 says, "Happy is the man that hath his quiver full...". The
Bible tells us that children are a blessing and not a liability. They are a gift from God.
We did not believe that
God wanted us to have an $11,000 price tag on His gift. Doctor and hospital charges are out of
control. We believed that God's way would not begin with a huge debt.
There are many other reasons we believed that a homebirth was what God wanted for us. One
of the main reasons was purely to trust in Him. We put our trust in God that He would bring
forth this baby. And He did!!!
It says, Fear not", 63 times in the Bible. Fear is not from God. We did not
have fear before or during the birth. Our biggest obstacle was doubt. It was not doubt that God
COULD do it. We believe He can do anything. There was definitely doubt that WE could do it.
We had failed in the past and all the doctors and many around us said things like, "You probably
can't deliver the size of baby that you have." We realized that WE could not do it and
that God would
have to, but then there was doubt that He WOULD do it. Isaiah 66:9 says, "Shall I bring to
the birth, and not cause to bring forth? saith the LORD: shall I cause to bring forth,
and shut the womb? saith thy God." All we could do was stand on His promise.
When we did this, it took it out of our hands and put it in His. We believed that this was
something that God would do to glorify Himself.
That is just what He has done. We don't know why all Christ's followers' prayers are not
answered. Surely there are other times we come before our Father, through Christ, and things
don't come out the way we think they should. Many have said we "deserved" this birth to
turn out the way
we wanted or something to the same effect. The fact is we deserve nothing from God. On our
own behalf, we are unworthy for Him to even hear us. The only
reason we can even come before him with the cries of our heart, is because Christ is before us
as our Saviour. It not because of ANYTHING we have done that He has answered our prayers.
So... To God be the Glory, Great things he has done! So loved He the world that He gave
us His Son, Who yielded His life an atonement for sin and opened the Lifegate that all may go in.
Praise the Lord, Praise the Lord, Let the earth hear His voice! Praise the Lord, Praise the Lord,
Let the people rejoice! O come to the Father thru Jesus the Son, And give Him the glory great
things He hath done!
